The Civitas Schools leadership team is comprised of professionals with experience across varying industries that share a common purpose – a love for education and passion to see students achieve at their highest levels. We firmly believe that all of our students CAN and WILL be successful in college, the workplace and beyond. 

Stacy Beardsley, Chief Executive Officer

Stacy Beardsley Chief Executive Officer for Civitas Schools. In her role she manages three Chicago International Charter School campuses with 2200 students and oversees curriculum, assessment, instruction, evaluation and student supports.

Since joining Civitas in 2009, Beardsley has spearheaded the creation of a network-wide instructional coaching initiative and led the development and implementation of a new employee compensation plan.

Beardsley has previously served as CAO and Co-Founder of Chicago Rise and Director at North/Kenwood Oakland campus of the University of Chicago Charter School.  She was also previously a classroom instructor and administrator.

Beardsley earned her BA in Economics from Boston College and her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola University.

Christine Reed, Director of Operations

Christine Reed, a graduate of the Broad Residency in Urban Education, currently serves as Director of Operations for Civitas.  Her responsibilities include Compliance, Food Service and New School Start-up operations for all campuses.  Christine began her career in education with the District of Columbia Public School system where she served as the Director of Operations for the Office of Special Education. While in this role she was responsible for the department’s budget, procurement, IT and customer service processes.

Prior to joining The Broad Residency, Christine Reed held a variety of positions in engineering/manufacturing, supplier and sales management with companies such as Avery Dennison, Procter and Gamble and Johnson & Johnson. 

Christine holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tuskegee University, a master’s degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Systems from Kettering University, and a master’s degree in Industrial Administration (M.B.A.) from the Krannert School of Business at Purdue University.

Erica Harris, Director of Human Capital

Erica L. Harris is the Director for Human Capital for Civitas Schools.  As Director, she is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, and retention of all the organization’s employees.  She is inspired to work for Civitas Schools, an organization, which she believes, strives daily to keep students in the forefront of all its decision making. She remains motivated because of the tremendous talent and passion that her colleagues bring to this work, and firmly believes that people committed to the same bodacious goal, can accomplish great things on behalf of young people.

Prior to joining Civitas, Harris served as Officer for the Office of Extended Learning Opportunities (OELO) for the Chicago Public Schools where she managed a 77 million dollar budget and a 20 person team, which offered after school and community school programs to over 175,000 students at over 500 schools.

Harris has a Masters of Public Policy from The University of Chicago, Harris School of Public Policy and a BA from Spelman College. 

Chris Lozier, Chief Financial Officer

In December 2010 Chris Lozier became Chief Financial Officer for Civitas Schools in Chicago, IL. Over the previous decade, he has worked in equity research, international real estate investing, and education finance.

In addition to published work, he has provided finance, strategy, and operations consulting to New Schools for New Orleans, a Washington, DC charter school, and an operator of more than 100 K-12 schools in India.

Lozier holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. Between undergrad and grad school, he served as a submarine officer in the US Navy.

Allen Ramsier, Director of Information Technology

Allen Ramsier joined Civitas Schools as the Director of Information Technology in 2011. Prior to joining Civitas, Ramsier worked at Noble Network of Charter Schools, Glenview District 34, plus stints in Rome, Virginia, Mexico City, and Ohio. Upon completing college, Ramsier worked as an English teacher for 13 years, before joining the ranks in IT.

Allen has a  B.A. In English from Mount Union College (OH), M.A. In American Studies from College of William & Mary (VA).

Anne Matz, Director of Teacher Development

Anne Matz is the Director of Teacher Development for Civitas Schools. In this role, Matz oversees instructional coaching, new teacher mentoring and induction and teacher evaluation.

Matz joined Civitas in 2009 beginning her tenure with the organization as Director of CICS Northtown Academy.  Before joining the Civitas team, Matz served as principal of St. Scholastica Academy, a Benedictine college preparatory school in the West Ridge neighborhood of Chicago.  She began her career in education with fourteen years as a classroom instructor. 

Matz earned her B.A. in Religion from Carleton College, a Master’s in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University, and an an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from DePaul University.

Cassie Williams, Director of HS Curriculum

Cassie Williams is the Director of High School for Civitas Schools.  As Director of High School Curriculum she is responsible for Curriculum Development, Overseeing formalassessment practices, and supporting professional development at the two Civitas High School campuses.  She is honored to work for Civitas Schools, an organization that believes that EVERY student can be successful in school, college, career, and life.  
 
Prior to joining Civitas, Williams completed a residency with the New Leaders for New Schools aspiring principal program, where she served as a resident principal in two Chicago Public Schools.  She was also previously a classroom instructor in Detroit, Michigan for seven years.
 
Williams earned her BA in secondary English Education from Wayne State University, a  M.Ed in Reading Education from Wayne State University, and a M.Ed in Education Leadership from National Louis University (through New Leaders). 

Joyce Fisher, Director of Student Services

Joyce Fisher serves as the Director of Student Services. Prior to joining Civitas Schools in 2011 she served as a Principal and Assistant Principal in Chicago Public Schools.

Joyce is a former special education teacher and case manager, previously working in Milwaukee Public Schools. She obtained her BS in Special Education from Illinois State University, an ME.d from Cambridge College, and an MS in Adminstration and Supervision from National Louis University.
