Dr. Thresa Nelson serves as Chief Executive Officer of Civitas Schools. Most recently, Dr. Nelson held the position of Chief Operating Officer of Chicago International Charter School. She possesses over twenty years of management experience, with both for profit and non-profit organizations. In addition to her wealth of experience, Dr. Nelson holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Louisiana State University. While at LSU, she served as graduate assistant in Project TRUE: Transdisciplinary Residency in Urban Education and ADL: The Academy of Diverse Learners. She also had an internship with the Louisiana Board of Regents. Dr. Nelson’s professional and educational experiences have solidified her passion to provide quality educational experiences and choice for urban families.
