Volunteering & Mentoring
Our families, students, and staff have worked diligently to build and sustain high-performing public schools. We are always seeking talented, committed volunteers to support their efforts by participating in academic and extra-curricular initiatives offered to students and families during and beyond the school day.
If you are interested in getting involved and impacting the life of a Civitas student, we invite you to learn more about the students and teachers that make our schools great! A few of the opportunities to support our efforts are listed below.
Science Fair Judge
During the year, our students at each grade level complete a Science Project, which culminates with a Science Fair, during which they present their projects and findings to guests and judges. We always look to volunteers to serve as judges.
Time Commitment: 2 hours on day of Science Fair held
Spelling Bee Judge
Recent films like Akeelah and the Bee, Spellbound and Bee Season have made the spelling bee an exciting event for our students. Students in all grades show off their spelling skills in this fun yet competitive day of spelling. We would love you have you serve as a judge.
Time Commitment: 4 hours of day of Spelling Bee
Athletic Team Coaching
As we look to get more of our students active and fit through afterschool programming we are looking for volunteers to help coach our programs. Sample programs include golf, tennis, football, soccer and floor hockey.
Time Commitment: One season of practices and games
Mentoring
Our mentoring program is a chance for our students (K-12) to meet professionals in various fields to help shape their future decisions. Students not only learn about different career options but learn business etiquette, interviewing skills and cultural diversity. We are always looking for organizations to partner with us.
Time Commitment: Customized based on the organization

Are you a career professional that overcame great odds to reach your career goals? Do you have a unique perspective on how to reach success despite social pressure to conform? Civitas Schools is seeking career professionals to engage our students in dialogue about overcoming peer pressure, post-secondary education, and career goals via motivational lectures and speeches.
